Welcome to The Beach Early Learning Centre Erina.
Finding a new early childhood service for your child can be a daunting task. At The Beach Early Learning Centre Erina our aim is to provide a secure and happy environment where children can develop their intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and aesthetic skills to become competent and confident individuals, and for you as a parent/guardian to feel safe knowing that your child is receiving the best possible care.
We cater for children 0 to 6 years in age appropriate room configurations.
At our centre our age groupings are:
Sea Star Nursery for 0-2 Year Olds
Our Sea Star Nursery caters for 10 of children from 6 weeks to 2 years of age.
Through nurturing and developing secure attachments with your child we encourage them to grow and learn.
Babies are like little scientists investigating and experimenting through their senses of touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing.
Pipi Room for 2-3 Year Olds
The Pipi Room Educators program developmental experiences for your child according to their level of skill and based on their interest. We follow your child’s lead and aim to increase your child’s skills and abilities in preparation for transition to the Cowrie Room room.
Pipi Room caters for your child’s growing independence during their toddler year.
Our Pipi Room caters for 15 children from 2 years to 3 years of age.
The Beach Erina’s toddler room builds the foundations and prepares your child for the transition up to the Cowrie Room preschool room.
Cowrie Room for 3-4 Year Olds
Our Cowrie Room caters for 20 of children from 3 years to 4 years of age.
As children move towards 3 years of age their language and social skills increase dramatically. A child’s preschool years are an intense time of learning and consolidation capitalizing on their existing trust bonds with the centre Educators
During their time in the Cowrie Room Educators to determine their developmental needs and capitalise on this year before their Transition to School year.
Sea Turtle Room for 4-5 Years Olds
Our Sea Turtle Room caters for 20 of children from 4 years to 5 years of age.
A child’s preschool years are an intense time of learning and consolidation, capitalising on their existing trust bonds with the centre Educators ahead of commencing formal schooling.
Transitioning to ‘big school’ is an important time in your child’s life – and yours. We focus on making this transition as smooth as possible, and giving your child important skills to help them enter school with confidence. We also aim to inspire a lifelong love of learning in your child.
At this time of your child’s life, he or she is busy exploring new friendships, learning to make decisions, and becoming more aware of his or her own unique talents and abilities. For this reason, their kindergarten – preschool experience will lay an important foundation for their future. Providing a stimulating and nurturing environment is vitally important.
The Beach Early Learning Centre Erina is a richly stimulating, innovative and caring environment which fosters a child’s natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge. The environment and program draws from the very best early childhood teaching practices with emphasis on the Early Years Learning Framework. It offers a purposeful experience that establishes in each child a love of learning and a strong sense of self. Reflective planning allows the opportunity for both intentional teaching and spontaneous play ensuring that children are successful, competent and capable learners who have a clear understanding and connection to their sense of self, the community and the world around them.
We act as an extension of home and provide an environment where children feel loved, accepted and secure, as well as being a place where children are encouraged to achieve their best socially, emotionally and academically. We have a moral and social obligation to the children, their families and the greater community to provide the children with a core foundation that will support them through life to become active members of the community.
We view the child’s time spent at our centre as an apprenticeship in humanity where differences are embraced and acceptance of others is always encouraged as the best choice. Offering support to challenge and succeed within routines and daily experiences, critical reflection and careful planning will allow each child’s interests to be responded to and scaffolds their learning.

Our team of educators and staff are committed to providing children and families with a coordinated approach to a warm, nurturing and engaging environment that celebrates diversity and the right of every child to have access to high quality care regardless of their individual needs.
We understand the important role our Centre plays in nurturing and educating the children in our care and through our staff developing loving relationships based on trust and security.
An emphasis is placed on children and families receiving greater individual attention through goal setting, child progress records and family involvement in centre planning and events.
All educators at our service are trained and experienced in areas of early education and care. Due to our high standard and commitment of our educators, we are able to provide specific developmental and educational curricula for each group of children.
We will use the relationships children have with their families and communities to build the curriculum, working in partnership with parents, to ensure each child’s knowledge, ideas, culture, abilities and interests are the foundation of our programs.

As an early childhood teacher I believe in the importance of caring for each child’s development. I believe in caring for the whole child and providing holistic support that nurtures the children’s learning. I endeavour to help children develop a positive self concept and guide them as they grow in self confidence. I believe that play acts as an important part of learning and children learn through playing more than any other means. I believe that a learning environment should be a rich environment that provides opportunities for children to explore and discover how they fit into the world around them. I believe children should be nurtured by the circle of security. I strive to provide an environment that children feel loved and safe knowing that they are welcome to come back to me during any part of the day.
I believe that early childhood is a celebration of each child’s learning, that the children I care for are individuals that will positively contribute to their community and wider society.
My goals for the BELC Erina are to maintain a positive environment, high standard and set example for Educators to grow and blossom which in turn helps create the best learning environment possible for all children attending the service.
What inspires you?
What inspires me as an Early Childhood Educator is watching the children learn through play and discover new experiences for themselves.
Tell us about the service you offer at The Beach Early Learning Centre Erina.
At The Beach Early Learning Erina we offer 4 age specific rooms with up to 3 teachers a day. The rooms are split into the following age ranges; Sea Star Nursery 6 weeks – 2 years, Pipi Room 2 years – 3 years, Cowrie Room 3 years – 4 years and our Sea Turtle Room 4 years+. All our Educators hold a minimum Diploma qualification or are working towards completing their Diploma studies. With a combination of qualified staff and age specific rooms our play based curriculum evolves from children’s interests and the outside world giving children the skills needed for the next stages of life. Although school readiness is learnt through most play based activities we include a letter of the week and special time during the day for our Sea Turtles to focus on skills that will assist them in the next stages of their life.
We provide nappies and a healthy morning and afternoon tea. Healthy lunch boxes are encouraged for all ages at the centre and Educators discuss ‘healthy’ foods and ‘sometimes’ foods with the children at meal times.
What do you think is the most important aspects of education and role modelling for the children in your care?
In my day I feel the most important aspects is be responsible for the children in my care, not only to supervise diligently but to ensure my interactions are warm and thoughtful to all. As i work with children and families it is a priority to provide the best care possible for all individual needs. Throughout the day I help create and put into practice quality care and programs. I endeavour to role model to all children and families to be an active part of the community, someone with passion for their jobs and someone to welcomes challenges and learning experiences.
Why do you think you meet the needs of the families in your community?
As an educator with 10 years experience, a bachelor of Early Childhood Studies and a mother myself I know the importance of looking for someone to care for your child. I understand the importance it is to care for the next generation and feel honoured to be an Early Childhood Teacher. I want families to have trust in myself and my team to know that their child are being nurtured and cared for throughout the day. I believe in working in partnership with the children and families to ensure their children are having a fun and happy day in care.
Explain in one sentence what it is like to spend a day in the shoes of a leader in the early childhood profession?
When I began my childcare journey I was told I will wear many different hats throughout the day, I believe this is especially relevant to my current job. Throughout the day I put on numerous hats to address the tasks at hand.
What makes childcare such a passion for you?
I love being with children, I love listening, watching and being involved in their days. I love hearing about their achievements and watching their individual milestones. I enjoy the partnerships I make with families and working together to see the best outcome for their child.
Indoor and outdoor play based experiences are an integral part of our program. Play is essential to all children’s development as moments will arise when they discover something that interests them and these become ‘teachable moments’.
Staff plan a diverse range of experiences to create opportunities for both structured and spontaneous play focused on the physical, emotional/social, sensory and cognitive developmental areas of each child.
Children learn through their own experiences using trial and error, repetition, imitation and identification. Staff use interactive strategies to support children’s growth and learning. We advocate children learning best through play – direct play, hands on experiences to discover the environment around them by exploring and playing.
Each room will follow varying, developmentally appropriate routines. A simple, flexible daily routine would apply to our infant and toddler age groups then slightly shifting to a flexible yet predictable daily routine for preschool age group/s. Our school readiness program continues to emphasise play based learning however, additionally offers structured learning times to focus on number concepts, perceptual skills and pre-writing skills such as tracing, completing patterns and reproducing patterns. The goal is to develop a foundation for basic math, reading and writing skills.
Routines and programs are displayed in each room for you to peruse and we invite you to contribute and make suggestions to your child’s Educators. Parents and Guardians are invited to discuss the activities, experiences and subsequent developmental outcomes achieved that are integrated within our programs.
